Travis is the man. He would occasionally come into the shop to get a gasket or something and be talking about different things. I remember one time he was talking about a tech inspection at the races that he was overlooking. While the inspectors were tearing down a winning engine to verify that it met the sanctioned guidelines, he was making mental notes and asking questions to see exactly what they were checking. He then started rattling off all this stuff that he was going to do to squeeze out some extra ponies and still be "legal". Shaving valve stems, regrinding valve heads, chamfering this or that - hell, I don't know. It was all pretty well over my head. He knows his shit. I wouldn't hesitate an instant to take any performance questions or needs to him. All my stuff is slow, but I kinda like it that way. Once my new project is underway - I'll be picking his brain and utilizing his talents for sure.
