Yes.. im not sure of exaclty how it works but basically you have several riders, shortest ride time is 30 minutes, longest is 1 hour 15 minutes, its a 4 hour race, you blast around the track. Seems like alot of guys crash out and stuff, so I think our goal is going to be to finish the race.
Travis already talked to some of his people and it sounds like Vortex is on board with us, and waiting to hear back fom some others.

Well. I guess I should through my two (or more) cents in:
I have considered doing this for the past two or three years. Endurance racing is definitely the way to go. You get way more time on the bike for the money and effort, and while it's competitive, it's not so much the elbow to elbow, bar banging competitiveness that exists in sprint racing. If this happens, I'm going to be a part of it, so sign me up. Now for the downside: There is a reason I'm not already doing it, and it's not because I don't think I can keep up. It's a logistical nightmare when the closest track is five hours away, and many of the tracks are an entire days drive (or more) away. It's also VERY expensive. The idea of taking off work Thursday, driving all day (and half the night), practicing on Friday, racing all day Saturday, then packing up and driving all the way home. This isn't that big of a deal for Hallett, Heartland Park, Mid America, Hastings, Gateway, or some of the other close ones, but when you look at Road America, Road Atlanta, Barber, it becomes an issue. Then next hurdle is obviously the bike. There was just a thread on the Wera board about this, and the consensus is that it's much cheaper to just buy a race bike already built by somebody else. This way the major mods (exhaust, engine, bodywork, suspension, etc) are already done, and you just have to tweak it and paint it to fit yourself. It sure would be a lot more fun to build one from the ground up, but unless we're talking about full sponsorship and a bunch of free parts, it's gonna be tough. None of this even takes the type of bike into consideration. In my opinion, a second gen SV650 would be ideal. It's fuel injected for easy tuning, parts are cheap and easy to come by, it's light, it's slow (but faster than most other bikes in it's class), and it's really easy on tires. Finally there is licensing. I have read through the CMRA, CCS/ASRA, and WERA rulebooks, and all require you to attend at least a race school prior to applying for the license. You also need to run two race weekends (in sprints) as a provisional novice before you can run endurance and/or earn points. In CMRA, you have to cornerwork at two races also. You can sidestep this to a point, because most organizations will honor other licenses, so you could get the CCS license, which is fairly easy, then you just have to pay for the WERA or CMRA license, without running through the entire process. The only hitch is that CCS/ASRA endurance is pretty much done with the close races this year, unless we manage to get a bike built, get licensed, get time off, etc, etc, etc before the July 10th race at Heartland Park (iirc). So yes, I really want to do it. It's not going to be easy at all, and it's not going to be cheap, but it would be really, really fun. In all honesty, it's something that will probably not be feasible until next year, unless somebody comes up with a big wad of cash to pay for three or four of us to take off work long enough to get our licenses and provisional races in. My goal is to get into a Pridmore school this year (they just added one in August for HPT) and get qualified for a CCS license. Race a CCS race, then use that license to gain access to the CMRA series, then run in an endurance race at Hallett next year.

That would be wicked awesome and if something like that happens I would help in some capacity if I could. As Ron mentioned though, the logistics and timing of it all play a big roll in what I would be able to do.

The plan is to race it at the last race of the year this year.

Well as we all kow I work twelves, but if this took of I would definetly help out. My experince is mostly drag strip style, but a mechanic is a mechanic so im down. I do agree it will be expensive but if everyone chipped a little it would add up fast. and for those that want to go to the races, its on you/pay ur own way. But a bit here and there from everyone would add up as far as the parts are concerned. So if it takes off holler an Ill be down to wrench it up!
