Send me your email address and I'll forward you some links. I'm trying to figure out a good time to go to the class at Gateway.

IIRC, this all stemmed from a bs session at DBM. They had some in with the Kevin Schwantz racing school and had mentioned that they could probably get a bike acquired and set up to race, most likely a GSXR-600. Endurance racing is the best "bang for your buck" as you get to run 4-6 hours with mulitple riders. Sprint races are as little as 5-8 laps in most cases, and there are so many people banging around out there that the 600 class is known as "the meat grinder". We batted this around on the forum for a while, with several people offering services and ideas, but we never really put a plan together. There was never an official bike, there are only 1 or 2 people on the board with a race license, and there are no races anywhere even close to us. I'm not sure what the viability of the whole idea even is now. I'm pretty sure Kevin Schwantz has taken over the former Freddie Spencer racing school and I think he's using Hondas now, so the bike is in question. Nobody is for certain about riders (still no licenses) and of course, all of the tracks are several hundred miles away. In my opinion, the best way to actually do this is to put together a small bike, either a 250 ninja or a 650cc twin (SV, Kawi, Honda Hawk) and run in the lightweight class. Tires are cheaper and last way longer, bikes are cheaper, and the competition is friendlier. We could run in CMRA at Hallett twice per year, or travel further to the SE and run with WERA. You're still talking about several thousand in associated costs and a whole lot of man hours that would need to be committed.

Well as far as a 250 ninja we do have a board member that has one sitting on his back porch that would be the perfect rebuilder lol
